Billy Graham Evangelistic Association

This is a Contract position in Charlotte, NC posted May 19, 2020.

The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association is a nonprofit organization that directs a range of domestic and international ministries.

From its headquarters in Charlotte, N.C., the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association directs a wide range of domestic and international ministries, including: large-scale festivals led by evangelists Franklin Graham and Will Graham; The Billy Graham Library; The Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove, located outside of Asheville, N.C.; SearchforJesus.net, an Internet evangelism project reaching thousands of people for Christ online; and many others through print, television, telephone, radio and the Internet.

The Information Technology (IT) Department at BGEA consists of the following areas: IT Operations (networking, routing, storage, server support, services provisioning, security cameras, phones), Helpdesk (desktop support, event support, mobile device support), Application Development and Support (custom application development and support, report writing, Tableau data visualization), Enterprise Applications Support (Human Capital Management, Donor, and Financial systems support) and and Cyber Security (cyber security defense, awareness, monitoring and analysis, and compliance).

The IT department furthers the mission of BGEA through supporting, developing, scaling, and securing the assets, infrastructure, and programs required by all areas of the ministry while maintaining and ensuring their availability.

As an integral part of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, the Programmer / Analyst develops logical procedures for computer systems, performs application program design, development, and maintenance, and maintains current written systems and database specifications for program procedures for electronic data processing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Performs business analysis, application design, and programming.

Serves as technical consultant to the business.

Creates, modifies, updates, and maintains programs as needed.

Creates relational table structures to support application design.

Creates and supports automated interfaces between systems.

Establishes procedures for solutions to problems.

Creates and maintains documentation for systems.

Tests and debugs programs.

Investigates and determines causes of computer program malfunctions and implements corrective action.

Marginal Duties and Responsibilities Writes computer systems requirements and specifications.

Documents computer programs and file layouts.

Implements new systems.

Supports systems users and provides training when needed.

Provides cost analysis of implementing new systems.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Reporting Relationships Reports to Application Development Manager.

Has no supervisory responsibilities.

Job Specifications Skills and Knowledge Bachelor-level degree or university program certificate, or four (4) years’ experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience in the IT field.

Experience implementing, maintaining, and monitoring software solutions.

Experience with modern development frameworks and IDEs.

Completely comfortable with the suite of .net development languages including .net Core.

Experience with Microsoft SQL Server (SQL Server Reporting Services [SSRS], SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), TSQL), MVC, .NET Core.

Experience working with pipeline automation tools.

Experience with containerization platforms for application deployment preferred.

Completely comfortable with Git, Git flow, GitHub, and other SDLC tools necessary for agile development like Jira and Jenkins.

Proactive system health monitoring and maintenance.

Competence in all technical phases of application programming.

Good verbal communication skills.

Experience with personal computer hardware, software, and applications.

Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Ability to work independently with self-motivation.

Ability to make fair, sound decisions.

Schedule Flexibility.

Ability to listen and resolve problems.

Ability to learn new programming languages.

Ability to handle details, and to bring tasks to closure.

Working Conditions Conventional office and technology environment.

Some work on an on-call basis is occasionally required.
