Network security engineer

This is a Full-time position in Denver, PA posted January 15, 2020.

The focus for a Network Security Engineer is the management and administration of network security technologies.

The scope will include Cisco and Palo Alto security appliances and network devices.

The Network Security Engineer works closely with the Senior Technical Service Leader and Senior Device Management Specialists to provide support and assistance to the client.

Most work is scheduled and delivered in a given time frame.

The Network Security Engineer will have excellent working relationships with other team members.

The Network Security Engineer is responsible for working with the Team at multiple levels in order to identify and align business and IT objectives, discover security or operational pain points, offer recommendations, implement solutions, and recognize current and future IT security needs.

Responsibilities: Execute highly technical changes and client requests in a timely fashion respecting change windows, and client requests Ensure the completion of tasks and update tickets accordingly Utilize Network Security tools and analytical skills to investigate root cause of issues across the enterprise network Document investigations and provide solution recommendations Fulfill Senior Technical Service Leader (STSL) or client requested tasks Schedule and run regular technical change requests (i.e.

policy modifications, signature updates, security patches, major software releases) Enhance existing policies and configurations of client technologies Work closely with Threat Analyst/Hunter to improve proactive defense posture Work closely with SIEM Engineer to improve SOC alerting Provide overall guidance, instruction and leadership to SOC analysts Provide mentorship and guidance to other SOC analysts regarding technologies Engage in knowledge sharing with other team members Provide major component infrastructure support Conduct Health Checks for non-SIEM technologies Triage security infrastructure or enterprise failures as well as reconfigurations Open and follow-up on tickets with 3rd party vendors Maintain current knowledge on industry issues/trends and competitive network products Maintain and expand working knowledge of current managed technologies Improve technical understanding of all managed technologies Communicate effectively orally and in writing, and establish a cooperative working relationship with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties Desired Skills and Experience College Diploma or University Degree in Information Security or relevant security up-to-date certificates and/or equivalent work experience Holds certifications of security technologies or network technologies Minimum 3 years experience in IT security field Strong understanding of IT Security concepts, best practices, and market direction Experience with security/operational network architecture design Possess proficient/expert knowledge and experience with Cisco Unified Threat Management technologies Strong troubleshooting, reasoning and problem-solving skills Strong knowledge of networking concepts VLAN, WAN, LAN, Routers, Switches, Access Points, Firewalls, IPS, VPN, Security Zones etc.
