Data Engineer in Chicago, IL

This is a Full-time position in Niantic, IL posted February 8, 2020.

SUMMARY: We are looking for a senior data engineer who will lead Accel’s data warehouse migration project.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for updating schema design and data modelling of existing database, partnering with Accel’s software engineers in Integrating new cloud database to BI tools and customer portals, designing schema and extract/transform/load (ETL) process of external data, archiving Salesforce CRM record history, and optimizing performance of existing ETL processes that include file integration and web scraping.

He/she must have strong experience in working in cloud computing & database environment and must have a proven ability to design efficient database structures and ETL process.

The right candidate will have a passion for efficiently storing dataset in any size and any type.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES: 5 years of experience working with relational and/or multi-dimensional databases Experience developing ETL processes Mastery in one or more SQL variants: PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.

Mastery in database concepts and large-scale database implementations and design patterns Comfortable with AWS (redshift) and/or Azure data warehouse infrastructure Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related STEM field Mastery in one or more scripting (Java/R/Python/Scala/etc.) languages Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently with minor supervision Ability to efficiently work on multiple projects QUALIFICATIONS: Comfortable with cloud computing (AWS EC2, Azure Virtual Machine) Proficiency in Python Comfortable with using Git Experience with Salesforce CRM backend Experience with non-relational databases MS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related STEM field Proficiency in at least one of open source ecosystem (Apache Spark, Hadoop, MongoDB, Jenkins, etc.) COMPETENCIES: Core: All employees (weightings do not change): Ethical Compliance
